DT Swiss' most advanced wheel for safe bike handling at all times

The latest generation of ARC 1100 DICUT wheels has been developed in collaboration with SWISS SIDE, an expert leader in aerodynamic optimization. As a result, the new AERO+ rim profile minimizes both aerodynamic drag and steering moment to improve aerodynamics and control even in strong crosswinds. This makes it easier for the rider to control the wheel while taking advantage of the slipstream effect. The wheel configuration is completed by new DT Swiss aerodynamic spokes in combination with the elegant 180 DICUT hub with ultra-light SINC ceramic bearings.
Take the lead in the overall standings: these wheels offer excellent aerodynamic performance and great handling. And thanks to their low weight, they are ready to tackle even the most demanding climbs.

Greater internal rim width
The 22 mm internal rim width is ideal for mounting wide tires (28 to 30 mm) for greater comfort.

V-shaped carbon rim
The new rim shape has a smaller frontal area, resulting in reduced aerodynamic drag.

Aero WTS
Now available as a complete aerodynamic wheel system (WTS) with the new AERO 111 front tire.

Aero spokes
Latest generation spokes, the DT Aerolite II, guarantee low aerodynamic resistance to rotation and translation.

Hub
New 180 DICUT hubs with low-friction SINC Ceramic bearings.

Now lighter for faster climbs
With a rim height of 38 mm and an inner width of less than 20 mm, this set of climbing wheels guarantees reduced weight to overcome even the steepest gradients.

Technologies

WTS technology
Optimization of wheel and tire as a complete system, for even greater speed.

Aero+
Aero+ technology was developed in collaboration with Swiss Side, DT Swiss' aerodynamic partner, to optimize the new ERC 1100 Dicut®. This describes the manufacturer's approach to continuously improving wheels through numerous engineering techniques at every stage of development. Aero+ is based on three pillars: resistance, handling, and efficiency.

  • Aerodynamic drag: Reducing the aerodynamic drag of the wheel and, above all, of the complete system is one of the three key points of Aero+ technology. CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation and the Black Box process form the basis for the development of the prototype, which is then tested in the wind tunnel. Thanks to these processes, it has been possible to optimize the efficiency of the wheel with extremely low drag values regardless of the lean angle and to achieve balanced braking performance.
  • Handling: the complete bike accounts for only 25% of the total drag, the wheels even less than 8%, while the rider accounts for the remaining 75%. So why is the wheel still important in this calculation? Being comfortable regardless of the situation is a decisive factor, because only then will you be able to maintain an aerodynamic position, which affects that 75%.
  • Efficiency: comfort, traction, and rolling resistance define efficiency. Wheels have a direct effect on how tires perform. These factors play a key role in the Aero+ concept: wider rims support tires better, which allows for greater control as well as comfort.

Ratchet Exp

  • Easy maintenance: DT Swiss hubs are also known for their notool technology. DT Swiss has also found a way to further improve this system and make maintenance even easier with a small modification to the end caps.
  • Freehub body conversion: Simplified thanks to easier disassembly.
  • Less weight: It's not just reliability that has been improved. The fusion of the ratchet and threaded ring reduces the number of individual parts in the system, which offers a significant advantage.
  • Less wear: A single cylindrical spring ensures faster and more complete engagement, thereby increasing reliability.
  • Superior reliability: Full engagement of the ratchets creates a large contact surface and therefore low surface pressure, which leads to superior reliability.
  • Longer bearing life: Integrating the bearing into the threaded ring maximizes the bearing distance. The increased distance further supports the axle, resulting in less axle deflection, which protects the bearings and increases their service life.

Sinc Ceramic

SINC ceramic ball bearings were developed by DT Swiss. They are based on silicon nitride (Si3N4) balls, an extremely tough ceramic material that is resistant to wear and corrosion. The bearing rings are made of a specially developed steel alloy, adapted to the properties of the specific ceramic material used and precision ground. This combination reduces rolling resistance to an absolute minimum and ensures a longer service life than conventional ball bearings.
But it is not only the bearing itself that is designed as a system. Only by using tolerances within a few thousandths of a millimeter and precisely adjusting the tolerances of the DT Swiss hub bearing seats can Sinc ceramic bearings offer their full potential and provide the decisive advantage over competing products.

Tubeless technology

All DT Swiss wheels are compatible with tubeless technology, and ASM versions are designed for tubeless systems, equipped with tubeless tape and valves.
